EFS Brexit Update

Dear Client,

By now we had hoped to be able to give clear and precise information and instructions on the implications of Brexit as far as transport is concerned to and from the EU. Unfortunately, given the situation is still very unclear, we are unable to do this. However we can reassure you that Eurosprint are well prepared for life outside of the EU and also offer some recommendations on things you may wish to consider ahead of our departure.

Authorised Economic Operator – AEO

Eurosprint Freight Services are in the process of securing AEO status and anticipate this to be completed by the end of 2018 or early 2019. This is the highest level of certification available and includes customs simplification, security and safety. There is a general opinion that AEO status will be vital to all forwarders for life outside of the EU.

Eurosprint Deferment Account

Swift payment of taxes and duties on behalf of the importer may become necessary to ensure efficient clearance and delivery of all EU shipments. Eurosprint deferment facilities have been increased to cater for this.


How would a 1-2 day delay effect your business? Storage is available for any client that wishes to build up additional stock in preparation for delays in the supply chain following our departure from the EU. In a “no deal” scenario delays are likely.

Bonded Warehousing

Eurosprint are increasing the number of bonded warehouse facilities we have in the UK, these are Government approved facilities that allow us to hold cargo securely and defer VAT/DUTY payments whilst cargo is “under bond”


Customs Clearance is not a new thing for Eurosprint, over half of the shipments we handle are to or from Countries outside of the EU. We already have a dedicated team of customs experts and will be providing additional training to other staff members alongside a recruitment drive if necessary, to cope with any additional customs work required.


We are registered to receive all Brexit updates from the government as they happen and have been attending, and will continue to attend, any Brexit related workshops available. These workshops are open to anyone involved in International trade.


It is highly likely that additional information will be required for goods travelling to and from the EU in 2019 and we are advising clients to prepare themselves for the following-

 It is possible that any business trading with the EU will require a VAT and EORI number. You can apply for a EORI number via www.gov.uk/eori

 A customs tariff number may be required for each of your products, you can find help and advice here – www.gov.uk/trade-tariff – this is a completely free Government service.

 A detailed description and breakdown of your goods against each tariff number may need to be shown on all packing lists and invoices post Brexit.
